Editorial Standards & Corrections

Our standards

  1. Evidence first. Every factual claim in a guide links to its source. If we can’t source it, we don’t say it.
  2. No pretend testing. We don’t test products in person and never imply that we did. We don’t use phrases like “in our testing” for other people’s tests — we name the tester.
  3. Show disagreement. If credible testers disagree, we say so.
  4. Bad news included. Every guide includes known problems, complaints, recalls and who should skip each pick.
  5. Independence. Commissions, free products, ads and brand relationships never decide a pick. Brands can’t pay for placement or review changes.
  6. No fake or bought reviews or testimonials. We follow the FTC’s Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule (16 CFR Part 465) and Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255).
  7. No Amazon customer reviews or star ratings are displayed or used on this site.
  8. Human accountability. AI tools may help with research and drafting; a named person checks every claim and signs off on every guide.
  9. Freshness. Top guides are reviewed at least every 6 months, and immediately after a recall or discontinuation of a pick.
  10. Respect for sources. We quote briefly and link; we don’t republish other publishers’ data tables or paywalled content.
